LOIS KATHLEEN ROBSON Lois Robson (nee Tisdale) born July 20, 1912 in Watrous, SK passed away May 26, 2004 at Central Park Lodge. Devoted and supportive wife of Norm Robson and her children, Peggy Mitchell (Hal) and Paul Robson (Margaret). Lois had six grandchildren, Elizabeth Viatkus (Arvydias), Susan Mitchell, Scott Robson, Craig Robson (Michelle), Curtis Robson (Barb) and Kevin Robson (Kristi) and 10 great-grandchildren, Maggie and Kess Viatkus, Adam, Erin and Lyndsey, Jacob, Alexis, Karlie and Emily Anne and Thomas Robson. Raised in Kenton, MB, Lois was fond of recounting her early years with her life long friend Del McLean and noting the many prominent people who were "from Kenton". After her father Oscar was killed in the first World War, her mother Gertrude Tisdale raised Lois and her brother Greg with the support of the extended family of Dr. Jack and Elizabeth Tisdale. The self reliance and determination of her mother during those years was a tremendous influence on Lois. Lois graduated from the Normal School in Winnipeg in 1932 and obtained her first of many teaching positions, in one room school house in Excelsoir, MB, where she taught Grade 1 through 9. Lois and Norm were married in 1937 and in 1941 moved east to Toronto and Burlington, ON where Norm pursued his career with Silverwood Dairies, and Lois raised the kids. Returning to Winnipeg at the height of the 1950s flood, Norm and Lois purchased a home/cottage at Whytewold Beach where for three years Lois taught in the two room school house in Matlock. Active in community activities, Lois served as organist and Sunday school teacher at the All Saints Anglican Church in Matlock. In 1953, Norm and Lois moved to Winnipeg but retained the cottage on Rose Avenue as a summer retreat. Mother began her last teaching assignment at Linwood School in St. James. The Rose Avenue cottage was the centre of their retired life; however, whenever travel opportunities arose, their bags were packed. They particularly enjoyed the Blue Bomber cruises, trips to the Maritimes, Scotland and England, Ladysmith, BC and Palm Springs, CA. Of course, Lois was an ardent Blue Bomber fan and enjoyed the company of those season ticket holders in Section D. Although she will be sadly missed, her joy of life and commitment of family and friends are the lesson to be cherished by all who knew her. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and care-givers on the eighth floor at Central Park Lodge, for their extraordinary kindness to our mother. Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
